Wining, Dining & Ferris Wheel Riding at Champs-Elysées

15th November – 4th January

Undoubtedly the star of Paris’ stunning Christmas Markets, Champs-Elysées teems with festive fun, food, and mulled wine fuelled merriment! But the biggest allure of this seasonal spectacle is its splendour - as hundreds of firs and thousands of lights illuminate the length of the avenue, asserting its naming as the world’s most beautiful boulevard!

A good point to start your exploration of the avenue is at Place de la Concorde - situated a scenic nine minute stroll from Amarante Beau Manoir - where the beauty of the Champs-Elysées at Christmas can be admired from 230 ft. in the air, courtesy of the illuminated Ferris Wheel! Once back on the ground, simply strolling (preferably at moonlight) along the avenue will also surround you in splendour, with charming wooden chalets and their bounties of beautiful bric-a-brac toys, trinkets and decorations.

But it isn’t just loveliness that abounds at this Christmas Market. Festive fun is also not lacking, as children enjoy free concerts, while young and old alike spin, spiral (and fall) in all directions on the huge ice rink! Obligatory visits to Père Noël (Father Christmas) are also available in Santa’s Grotto; but only if you’ve been good.

In keeping with the true spirit of Christmas, opportunities to indulge are also aplenty, with sundry stalls offering up no-end of Noël niceties like foie gras, raclette, tartiflette and roasted chestnuts; joined by year-round delicacies like oysters, truffles and caviar. Parisians also know a thing or two about wine - heat it up, add some spices, and you have a tasty yuletide treat!

Classical Christmas Concerts at La Madeleine

Throughout October, November & December

Situated just steps from Amarante Beau Manoir, not to be missed this festive season is a visit to La Madeleine. Built between 1764 and 1842, the Roman Catholic Church is among the most iconic and intriguing structures in Paris with its uncompromising columns and ties to Napoleon. But throughout the year, a journey inside the beautiful neoclassical building will acquaint you with all manner of theatrical and musical performances, and nowhere more so than at Christmas!

One such spectacle is Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, where Les Violons de France will recreate the most revered and best loved of the composer’s concerti. But while you will undoubtedly be familiar with Vivaldi’s magnum opus, the harmonious strings led by Frédéric Moreau, coupled with the unique acoustics of La Madeleine, succeeds in bringing new life to this majestic imagining of the seasons.

For the various performances, Les Violons de France will also enthral audiences with other masterworks of the violin repertoire with: Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major, Albinoni’s Adagio, Mozart’s A Little Night Music and Schubert and Gounod’s interpretations of Ave Maria. As Christmas nears, also keep an ear out for additional seasonal surprises! See here for La Madeleine’s full classical music schedule this winter.

The Dazzling Window Displays of Boulevard Haussmann

November – January

As winter arrives in Paris, the historic department stores of Printemps and Galeries Lafayette unveil their whimsical window’s to compete for your postmodern attention span, with creations which can be deemed more art than mere displays!

This year is no different; as a leisurely five minute walk from Amarante Beau Manoir transports you to the bright lights of Boulevard Haussmann - where your eyes (and ears) will most likely be drawn to Printemps! To see in the festive season, sparkling lights, seasonal soundtracks, and vivid animations will of course abound - which for Christmas 2017, will reveal a magical journey from London to Paris!

Just five minutes down the road, the rivalling windows of Galeries Lafayette also lie in wait. No doubt it will be hard to top 2016’s Amazing Arctic Christmas, made entirely from paper! But, whatever it is, there is no doubt that they will pull out all the stops to make this year’s equally as impressive.

While on Boulevard Haussmann, also be sure to pay a visit inside the mammoth department stores; where superb shopping combines with seasonal spectacles, like the giant Christmas tree of Printemps and the glorious stained-glass dome of Galeries Lafayette!
